Also this year, we had the privilege of inviting some of our best customers to the 3rd Il Mercante Italian Wine Tour. The 2019 program included: Central Italy, Tuscany, Umbria and Abruzzo.
Our first stop was in Tuscany, where we were guested at Villa Grazianella by Tenute Del Cerro. We stayed there for five days in which they showed us their wine estates: Fattoria del Cerro, and La Poderina. We also had the chance to visit some of the most famous wine regions in Tuscany like San Gimignano, famous for its white wine called Vernaccia. San Gimignano is a small walled medieval hill town in the province of Siena, known as the Town of Fine Towers.
Then we went to another well-known hill town called Montalcino, famous for some of the most expensive and important wines of Italy such as Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello Di Montalcino. Before leaving Tuscany we stopped in the heart of Chianti Classico, a beautiful land of approximately 260 square kilometres, located between Florence and Siena.
Our next stop was at Lungarotti Estate in Umbria, famous for being one of the first wine estates of the region recognised worldwide. Its signature red wine Rubesco put Umbria on the world wine map. After visiting the Lungarotti Museum created in 1974, we had a wine degustation with Chiara Lungarotti, CEO of Lungarotti Group. After Umbria, we drove to the Abruzzo region to visit the Masciarelli Estate where we spent three days guested at the Castello Di Semivicoli. We had wine degustation and visited all the vineyards of Masciarelli.
On the final day of our wine tour we were hosted at Borgo Baccile Resort by Valentino Sciotti, CEO of Farnese Group. We had a great wine degustation tasting new vintages of their premium wines. Our tour finished with a lovely lunch at Trabocco restaurant, an ancient fisherman hut converted into a dining experience on the top of the Mediterranean sea.
An unforgettable experience.
